This is a great supplement to the textbook. Too bad the textbook was not written as clearly as this supplement!

The subsections of this text book do not correspond with the associated cases. There are subsection titles after the cases, but it is unclear if the subsections relate to the prior cases or if the text is moving on to new subjects. I've been reading law books for three years, and this book is the most confusing, disorganized text I have had the privilege of reading. I don't have a problem with the content, just the placement (or attempted placement) of the content into the various subsections.

This is the 2nd worst law school textbook I have had to buy (Federal Courts will likely never be unseated from the top spot). Very poorly organized, and the notes after the cases do more to confuse the issue than clarify anything. I understand this is Conflicts, a known tough class where "right" answers do not necessarily exist, but this insult to injury is unnecessary. The book provides no context before presenting a case. The E&E for this topic is very good - and much more organized and actually covers numerous topics in more depth than the text. The Kermit Roosevelt (who is one of the authors for the text) supplement (Conflict of Laws - Foundation Press) is good, and definitely clarifies things - and he definitely hits on the high points of the text (though some of the book is his talking about how he would rewrite Conflicts Laws - which is actually really interesting - but will not be on your exam). Though the way the textbook presents the Modern Approaches (in a more disorganized, linear/timeline fashion) is probably more accurate to the way the law developed - it doesn't help the learning process. For me the E&E provided structure and got me enough background that I could put the rest of the puzzle pieces together.

Our professor used this as our course-book. It's a pretty good book though sometimes the notes after the cases can be confusing.

The book Conflicts of Law is excellent. The product was in excellent condition and already has served as an asset in my educational training this year. I would recommend this site for the purchase of further academic textbooks to any student/potential buyer.

I read this book twice from the library then bought it. The author's approach using the green/yellow/red lights idea is easy to use and explain, then to apply it to when one has or does not have an open heart or open mind in situations works for me. She does begin with talking about mindfulness and personal awareness of when one is open and closed, a reminder that it all begins with oneself and how aware we are.

While there is some valuable insight hidden within this book, I didn't feel like the book did a good job at conveying the most essential points. The writing was not very concise or well-organized, so that by the end of the book I still didn't feel like I fully understood the analogy of red-yellow-green light communication that the author had used over and over again throughout the book. I finished the book feeling like I got something out of it, but not really sure about what that something was or how to apply it to my relationships.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to deepen and strengthen relationships with people. It has helped my personal, professional, and academic areas of life.

This is the most practical guide I have ever used in evaluating my communication and verbal interaction behaviors. I used it in conjunction with the author's online Shambala course, and use the skills every day.

This isn't a book that can be read quickly because the wisdom that is there takes awhile to process. For example: The idea that to be defensive is the same as "toxic certainty"--and this did ring true in my own relationships. After reading this book, I walked away with a better understanding of how to improve my communication with others.

Fantastic book! A very simple way of communicating the basics of life and how we can manage our day-to-day conflicts. Highly recommend!

I bought this is a gift for my brother for an occasion and gave it to him early and to say the least he loves it. It is already hanging up on his wall. Thank you Sports Illustrated, thanks to the vendor for articulately and accurately described in the calendar because it is exactly what Britain online. So for any guy out there, this would be a perfect gift.

It has become somewhat of an annual tradition to get one of these SI swimsuits for my grandfather, and this year was no exception. As you would expect, all of the photos are very attractive. We have always been satisfied with the quality of the print material used for the calendars, easily lasting all year - most of what is written on the calendar is appointment reminders for my grandfather, so it doesn't get a lot of use in that regard. But it serves the intended purpose of giving my grandfather something new to appreciate at the beginning of every month.

I get my son a calander for Christmas every year, and since he's now 17 I figured this would be perfect. And it was, the embarrassment in his face when he opened it was priceless!!! 😊

Beautiful women and a larger number display (needed because of my aging eyes) than the first SI calendar I bought . I am happy with this version of the SI calendar.

We buy this calendar every year for my brother in law for Christmas! I think he would be very disappointed if santa forgot to get him one every year!

Every Christmas, since he turned 17, my nephew asks for one of these calendars. He loves it! It never seems to disappoint him!

Weyland has been hooked on skateboarding for more than 20 years (he is 33 years old), making objectivity all but impossible. Instead, Weyland has written what amounts to a love letter to skateboarding and its culture. He cobbles old articles and reportage from skating magazines like Skateboarder and Thrasher into a breezy narrative of the sport from its birth in 1960s California as a way for surfers to pass the time when the waves were flat to the hugely popular sport of today, regularly featured on ESPN. Along the way readers meet legends like the Dogtown Z-Boys (skating pioneers who were recently the subject of a documentary film), Steve Caballero and Tony Hawk. But the real strength of this book comes from the personal experiences he skillfully drops in the mix. He does a great job explaining how, growing up as an alienated kid, skating offered him an alternative to institutionalized jock mentality and its attendant boorishness. Through his vivid remembrances, he offers a glimpse into the rebellious skating culture in the 1980s when it was still far underground. And while Weyland lapses a bit into sentimentality over today' s commercialization of the sport, he always returns to its true spirit. As he writes, It' s slamming onto cement and getting purple hip contusions that stick to your pants for weeks, riding on rain-soaked sidewalks and arguing with old ladies and running from cops. Echoes many of my sentiments from the early days.As for the days surrounding my involvement, it is how I remember it, and how I intended it.That never happens, but it did in this book, and I don't even know this guy, and never talked to him. He did use some of my photos without asking me though, and I never got a dime. I can be reached through Thrashers publisher, in the event there is a check waiting for me, and no where to mail it.

Growing up in the 80s I was surrounded by skateboarding, whether it be in the form of my Mom's friend's daughter showing me how to (attempt to) ride down the street at age 10, the kids skating in the "hip town" of Hyannis, MA (which was a "city" to someone from The Cape), watching my neighbors skate and build their own ramps, watching the early skate videos, or ogling through Transworld Skate or Thrasher and wishing I'd had enough coordination to actually be able to learn what I was seeing. I found this book at the public library and thought it might be an interesting read, but I had no idea what I was in for. Granted, Weyland's writing can be very subjective and he tends to "go off" about what skating has become (as many people who have been skating their entire life can), but what he wrote isn't just his complaints about skating and the industry. There's a lot of information about the history of skating (which a lot of people who claim to skate might not have any ideas about), and also stories about what skating was like before The Circus of what is now began. What he's written gives the person who doesn't understand skating the ability to have some inkling of what it's like, and to understand that "skating" isn't just what they see, but it's a culture, a lifestyle, a thought pattern, a philosophical journey, and can even be a family. One truly interesting part of the book (for me, being a 28 year-old college professor) is Weyland's comments and thoughts about going from being "in the know" to being considered "old." I would definitely suggest this book to anyone who is interested in learning more about the history of the sport and the genesis of what they see before them today.

This book is absolutely loaded with memories, from us old surfers who skated pools, to the kids who skate all the parks around the country and haven't bothered to experience the joy of getting chased out of public skate venues--all of us need to read this work of art. All of a sudden, all these great books have come out about our little world: Hawk's book (HAWK, OCCUPATION SKATEBOARDER) takes us inside the life of a pro (okay, well, inside the life of a god); AGENTS OF CHANGE takes us inside the world of DC Shoes and they're all worthy of putting on our coffee tables or on our bookshelves and maintaining a little bit of history. I give this book a deep asian bow... I'll love it long time.

I found Jocko Weyland's book to be an incredible history of skating because he unearthed some of the more obscure heroes of skating (those that were not given credit in Dogtown) who hailed from disparate parts of the globe including Hawaii. I also love that the author skated with the elks in Colorado.If you are into skating or know someone who is, buy this frickin' book. It tells the whole tale!

As a lifelong skateboarder, I was stoked (yes, I said 'stoked') to see a book like this come out. And I retained my stoke during the book's introduction. The introduction could stand alone as an inspired and revelatory essay.But after slogging through the first few chapters, I couldn't go on. I found the writing style to be simultaneously dry and overwritten. A bit of a feat really. It often feels as though the author's writing style was to get through a checklist of datapoints.The Answer Is Never states data without inspiration or revelation. So while it achieves textbook status, it omits the quizes at the end of each chapter.The editing is flat, and the copyediting is dismal. Mislaid lines of text and typos abound.

Bought this for my nephew as a Christmas gift. My brother told me he really got into skating this past summer. Based on reviews it sounded like it would be perfect for him. He was so excited to receive it. It turns out he met one of the authors and apparently skates where he does and couldn't wait to show him the gift.

I purchased this as a gift for my nephew who is a dyed in the wool skating buff (takes after his dad at the same age), and who informed me that the current term is "skating"; they no longer call it "skateboarding";...learn something new every day :;). My nephew loves the book. It is small enough to take along with him, is packed with history of the sport, and is written by a true legend of the sport. I nailed it as far as my nephew is concerned!

If you love skateboarding you should buy this book. It's a nice history that is intelligently written. It talks about skateboard culture with the alienated, angry kids, and how it is so different from organized sports. It covers the early beach culture skaters, punk rock skaters, Dogtowners and the beginning of vert riding. This book is fun to read. This cookbook is a go to for any night of the week. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves food, loves to cook, and doesn't have hours to prep. I order and experiment with cookbooks as if I get paid to do it (I don't). So many of them look promising and beautiful but under deliver. I have tried 12 of the recipes in this book and they have all turned out spectacular! They all work. Which is saying something. One of the best parts is that the recipes are also simple, it doesn't take days of even hours of prep to get a delicious healthy meal on the table. My 8 year old son loves that he gets to be part of building his own bowl, he can pick and choose what he wants to put in it. Often times he can't help himself and tries everything just because it feels like a fun experiment.Bonus: Nicki shares tip and tricks for shortcuts, there is a conversion chart, and to top it all off the index is super easy to use!

I'm in love with this cookbook! The idea of combining fresh, flavorful, whole foods to create a one-bowl meal is so appealing, and after trying a few of the recipes, I'm hooked. Our favorite so far is the Crunchy Vietnamese-Inspired Chicken & Rice Salad. I even took author Nicki Sizemore's advice and tried it with black rice (nuttier than brown rice, and absolutely delish!). We also loved her Asian Meatballs with Sesame Broccoli and the vegetarian Mujadarra with Caramelized Onions. Nicki's recipes have inspired me to venture out of my comfort zone and try new grains, spices, and sauces (her Garlic Yogurt is to DIE for!). If you're a cookbook lover like me, you'll have as much fun poring over the beautifully photographed pages as you will choosing recipes and making meals. A wonderful addition to the cookbook shelf!

I am a mom who is always looking for new, healthy recipes to put together for my family. I have no creativity whatsoever! This cookbook makes it so easy! The recipes are not only easy to follow, but they are super healthy and delicious. There is something for everyone. I am excited to try each and every one of them. This is my second cookbook by Nicki Sizemore and I love it just as much as the first. She makes cooking (which is normally a chore for me) fun! I would HIGHLY recommend!!

I am a mom of 4 young kids (10 and under) and the struggle is real to come up with healthy, quick meals that ALL 6 of us like! I love that this cookbook is full of complete meals that are packed with flavor, super healthy, quick enough to make on a busy weeknight (the Make Ahead Options are life savers!) and help me introduce my kids to new ingredients that they haven't tried before. This cookbook completely takes the guess work out of "what should we make with that chicken?" etc. I also love the cooking and ingredient tips sprinkled throughout the cookbook! I feel like I'm getting educated while I'm cooking! This is my second cookbook of Nicki Sizemore's and I have to say that I'm already looking forward to her next!!

I love this cookbook. I am not a great cook and I don't have a lot of time so, I am trying to eat healthy food that can be ready in a hurry. This book offers a lot of very flavorful options for doing that. The meals are very satisfying.

I really like and have tried most of the recipes in this book. Helpful advice on prep, selection, and execution of some tasty bowls. Well written with a little humor thrown in but not enough pictures of the finished product! All and all a good inspiration for those looking to eat healthier.

This book is just what I needed for fast but healthy food that everyone could eat. The author answered all my questions as if she knew what I wanted. I will use this book over and over.
