I used this book after using some of MGMAT's books. The GMAT Math Prep Course text is excellent, with many, many examples and reasonably good explanations. HOWEVER, you have to have a SOLID FOUNDATION to be able to use this book because it focuses (mostly) on 600-800 level problems without explaining all the finer math principle details (author assumes that you know them, and you will, if you use the MGMAT guide Manhattan GMAT Set of 8 Strategy Guides, Fourth Edition (Manhattan GMAT Strategy Guides)).WARNING: the Kindle version contains many errors! The errors are OK and you figure them out after reading the problem explanations, but these errors CAN and WILL get frustrating at times. The number of errors greatly decreases towards the middle of the book. I contacted Amazon support about this issue and the support personnel told me that the errors are a publisher issue and that the issue will be escalated. Haven't really heard anything since.With the above said, I would still highly recommend the book and even the Kindle version (that's what I used). The Kindle version is an absolute joy to use when studying from iPad.

The best way to improve problem solving skills is to do problems, and this book has a ton of good ones. I recommend this book to anybody who is comfortable with the GMAT math syllabus but wants a ton of good practice.

I'm only in the first chapter and in the first ten questions alone there have been two errors that render the question invalid. The answer explanations have the typos fixed so you can see what the questions were supposed to ask, but it is still super frustrating.

This book is great if your math is rusty and you need a more in depth refresher. It only covers more basic GMAT math so don't expect to master the most difficult math problems after using this book.The book's main shortcoming was the lack of tricks and shortcuts. There simply isn't time to fully solve every problem fully on the GMAT and sometimes I knew of easier methods to find the answer quickly with skills I learned with the Kaplan book.

Who edits this stuff? Obviously no one because the misprints in this book are horrible. It's difficult enough to go through the different equations and understand the explanations while having to pick out all the misprints in each equation. For example, on page 248, there are at least 13 instances where either an equation symbol (=) or a "greater than or equal to" symbol is used instead of where a subtraction symbol (-) should be used. This is pathetic, Nova. I have the copyright edition 2010. I'm surprised there aren't more complaints about this in the review section.As for the general content of the study guide, it is marginal. I would give it 3 stars, but explanations for how to solve certain problems are not very detailed and could be stronger. Buy at your own risk... I bought mine used at least.

First off, this is a great little book that I'd absolutely recommend to anybody that is looking to brush up on the quant part of the test. It goes into all the topics in great detail, includes simple and easily remembered tips for eliminating answer choices on the harder questions, and gives you small equations which (while unnecessary) can really help you come test day. The reason I give the Kindle version four stars instead of five is it has a few problems. The big thing is typos. I don't know how these came about, probably from the use of scanning in lieu of actually taking the time to enter in the data and tables, but the book has a lot of typos in the question sections, some of which make the question ask something completely different than what it's actually asking. I've seen 1=l, A=4, 6=b, (=C, and others. Usually you can tell what they meant, but in a few circumstances, particularly 6=b, it can really throw you off.The only other things I could complain about:1: Some of the difficulty levels seem to be off, with some medium questions being hard and hard questions being painfully easy. I remember one 'very hard' question (Counting section, around 60% of the way through) where if understood weighted averages the only possible way I saw to screw it up would be to accidentally subtract .05 from .55 instead of .5 from .55.2: The books favors long solution explanations. In a lot of ways, this is an extremely good thing because it's almost impossible to get lost in their explanation. Unfortunately, on the actual test you have time limits so you can't afford to do the extremely drawn out solutions the book favors. I wish they would have occasionally taken the time to show how you would do the problem quickly. A good example of this is 6 & 7 in Sequences.6) If you can't figure out the relationship and just realize that the middle value between 1 and 3 is 2 and guess the answer that way, there's a drawn out explanation that's very useful.7) A normal person would say "a=2ar, so r must equal .5. .5^2 is thus .25." Add 'em up and divide (if you see the problem you'll know). It takes under 30 seconds to do this problem. Instead, they do this gigantic, vastly overcomplicated solution when a normal person would just say "1.5a/.75a = 1.5/.75 = 2/1."Again, it's a great book and I completely recommend it. It's the best book I've seen for GMAT math thus far, and I've read quite a bit prepping for that test. I just wish the publisher would fix the typos, fix the difficulty levels, and give guidelines for doing the extremely common problems ("Machine A takes 5 hours to do something, Machine B takes 3 hours to do the same thing, how long would they take together?" sort of stuff) quickly.Bottom line: Buy it, it's good.

Great book. The first time I attempted the Gmat i studied on the cracking the gmat and placed in 45th percentile in math. I bought this book and the advance math prep book and after a month from my 580 i got 700 with 80% in quantitative. The problems are slighly different from the ones on the test but the difficulty is similar. It covers more aspects than the cracking the gmat book.

A caveat: I am not a nudist, but my partner is. When it came time to purchase the latest installment in the Naked Magazine Guide to World Wide Places, this ultimately went to his bookshelf.But after reviewing it myself, I can say it looks to be the most comprehensive and up-to-date gay travel guide to this date. Especially written for those who like to get naked while on the road, this 6th edition is terrific not only for its US listings, but detailed international notations. Once we got The Guide, I looked up Pennsylvania. (And you know you'll do the same thing!)If you already have an older version, the replacement is worth your time. Plenty of new color photos for you picture hounds to go with the updates. Wherever you're bound for, be it in your home territory or across a border, you'll find "The World Wide Guide To Naked Places" to be invaluable.

Anyone interested in gay nude travel should be advised that there are two books out there with the words "naked places" in the title. The book described on this page is called "Naked Magazine's Worldwide Guide to Naked Places" and is published by the Nazca Plains Corporation in Las Vegas, NV with no author credited in the actual book (even though it credits Robert Steele on this webpage). The other guide is called "Naked Places, A Guide for Gay Men to Nude Recreation and Travel" by Michael Boyd, put out by Mercury Publishing in Austin, TX.Having already owned Mr. Boyd's excellent book, I decided to buy the Naked Magazine book since it was published more recently and I'm about to take a trip to Europe. I was hugely disappointed. After having received the book, I believe the previous 5-star reviews must be bogus. In fact, one of the reviewers seems to specialize in writing 5-star reviews of Nazca Plains titles. Check it out for yourself.The Naked Magazine/Nazca book is a truly shoddy effort. First, it is horribly organized so that the reader has no sense of geographic orientation. For example, the author doesn't even have the courtesy to divide Canada into provinces or even cities! Beaches and places to stay for the entire country are listed separately and alphabetically, with the result that the reader has to constantly flip pages to figure out what is near what. Same goes for other countries.Secondly, there are several popular nude beaches in the U.S. that are omitted altogether, like the one on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe, which is one of my favorite nude beaches and one of the prettiest beaches anywhere I have been. There is no mention of it in this book, and it is a popular and well-known place.Third, places outside the U.S. seem a mere afterthought even though this book is touted as a worldwide guide. Descriptions and directions are virtually nil. Two examples: for Danube Island in Vienna, Austria, the directions read "Best if reached by bus, ferry or subway since parking in this area is a problem." That's it, that's all they tell you about how to find the nude beach on a river island that is 12 miles long. And here are the directions for a beach in Spain: "The beach is near Hotel Santa Cristina. There is a McDonald's near the beach. Ask for directions locally." Ask locally?! Isn't the purpose of a nude beach guide to tell you how to get there?! These examples are typical of the entries in the book and are virtually useless. (In comparison, Mr. Boyd's guide gives detailed directions with the nearest street intersection, how to make use of European mapping sites like viamichelin.com, what public transit to take when applicable and even the GPS coordinates so you can look it up on Google Earth! Night and day difference in quality!)My advice, in short, is do not waste your money on this book. It is clearly the slapdash effort of people out to make an easy buck who know nothing about the subject matter. Get Mr. Boyd's book instead, Naked Places, A Guide for Gay Men to Nude Recreation and Travel, 5th edition. In contrast to Naked Magazine's book, Michael Boyd's book is bigger (about 120 more pages and many more entries), infinitely more detailed and clearly written by someone who knows/cares about the world of gay nude recreation. In terms of quality, it is like comparing a TV guide to an encyclopedia!

At first I thought paying $21.95 for a guide would be completely ridiculous, but after receiving it -- WOW, is all I can say! It looks to be the most comprehensive and up-to-date gay travel guide on the planet! This is a wonderful look at modern English society. Here, PD James's focus on the legal system surrounding murder and grievous harm. The rituals of the Inns of Court, and of barristers preparing their wigs and gowns are used to reveal underlying weaknesses of the legal system.The judgment of the court, guilty or innocent are two absolute to describe human behavior. The legal system rarely has the means of determining who is innocent or guilty. The court determines only if the evidence is adequate to prove guilt. innocence is on a procedural basis.As usual, PD James has provided a wonderful sample of British elocution to discuss the problem of murder. The setting in Inns of Court provides a wonderful setting for considering the problems of guilt and innocence.

P.D. James is the only mystery writer whose books I have to read with a dictionary at hand. She's an excellent writer with a great command of the language. I googled her and was surprised to learn that she never went to university -- her father didn't believe in education for girls. I wonder how she learned to write like someone with much more formal education than she actually had?This is one of the strongest books in her Dalgleish series. The characters are fully imagined. The victim is such a jerk to everyone that it's interesting to figure out which person loathed her enough to do away with her. There's a developed sub-plot, something not often found in mysteries. Although most of the characters are disagreeable and/or somewhat off their rockers, I got interested in them.The setting is quite detailed and seems realistic, not just verbal wallpaper.I do wish Dalgleish had just a tiny little bit of a sense of humor. His relentless grimness and sadness in story after story get to be too much -- or too little, depending on how you look at it.

This is an excellent and well written book. Characters are introduced long before Adam Daigleish, and I wondered when the mystery going to begin. P.D. James is very good at getting the reader into the setting, and the vocabulary is challenging. There definitely is an opportunity to enrich the reader's intellect. I love the mysteries that are real mysteries but teach you something as well. Please try it. You will be glad you did.

I can't remember if I first read James because it was assigned in a detective fiction class I took or if I saw a movie/tv version of one of her books on PBS. It has been a few years since I read my first of her books. In any case, her characters--detectives, victims, suspects, killers--are so wonderfully developed and believable. She is so descriptive that I really felt like I had a movie going in my head the whole time. This is the second of her novels I've read (although number ten in her Adam Dalgliesh series). If you love good murder mysteries, you won't go wrong with P. D. James.

Different is not always good but Ms. James delivers another riveting mystery taking the reader deep into the life of the eventual victim. I enjoyed the story but admit to some anxiety concerning the arrival of AD and his team of detectives. I was ready for his cool temperament to assuage the chaotic personalities of the Court.

Living in England in the 80's, I happened on a tele drama series, "Cover Her Face", with the soulful, bright and intuitive Inspector Adam Dalgliesh and I had to find not only that book but every book P.D. James wrote and has written since. This book as all her mysteries does not disappoint. She was a true mystery lover's author. So if you are looking for rich characters, flawless descriptive narrations and the surprising twist and turns that all good detective novels should engage read the book and you too will be wanting more and judging other writers of the detective mysteries by this standard.

This story kept my attention. Her characters are well-drawn, with several of them being possible suspects. There are a number of unsavory scenes, but if you've read P.D. James in the past this won't come as a surprise. She has been one of my favorite mystery writers for decades, but I have to say the ending of this book was unsatisfying. I liked the entire story up to the resolution, so I gave it four stars for the plot and subtracted one because of the ending.

Something a little different in mystery novels... This was really engrossing. The reader spends a lot of time getting to know the first victim. By the time she got killed (about 1/3 of the way into the story), I was more than ready for it to happen. In fact, I have seldom loathed a fictional character more. And surprise, it turns out there were LOTS of fictional characters who loathed her, too, so there were suspects thick on the ground. This wasn't the case in the subsequent crimes that occured.Characterization is James' strength, not just physical descriptions but motivations, personality and character. Like this inattentive father: "When the children were at home, Harold got on well with them both. He had never found it difficult to get on well with strangers."She spends a lot of time on physical descriptions of people and of places. Some reviewers complain of this but it didn't bother me. The story takes place almost completely in London, and it's grounded in that city's geography-- the tube stations, the neighborhoods (she calls them villages) the landmarks, the churches. It all adds to feeling that the people, places, and events were real.The time is also real. This is set before cell phones were prevalent (I read the book in 2015, and this jumped out at me), and it might be a different story line with new technology.As to the ending, well, it depends on what your requirements are. I would define the ideal mystery ending as the detective solves the crime, the cops arrest the murderer (or in some cases, he's killed in the chase), and murderer's identity is not the obvious suspect. In this case, I would say we get two out of three.

I'm almost finished with this bible study and I am the leader. I am leading this over the lunch hour at my work so I appreciate how quickly we can get through the videos and have time for a good discussion. I'm surprised that some reviewers felt this was for age 30 and below. The women at the table are from all walks of life. Some of the main points that stuck out to me was overlooking hurts, serving your friends, forgiveness. No, these are not new ideas, but I do think we need reminders. If you've read the whole bible then it doesn't contain "new" ideas either but the point is that when you study it over and over the Holy Spirit reveals something new to you. The same with this study, the content isn't revolutionary but it does prick your conscience on areas you need to work on. I loved doing this at work because I got to know Christian women that I did not know well before and I've been able to have conversations with them that I would not otherwise been able to help. I loved how freely everyone spoke about their experiences and we could laugh. Nothing feels better then another person saying"Me too, i've been there"This is an extremely easy study. I hesitate to take on a meatier study with exetensive homework. I believe some of the Beth Moore studies are rather in depth. This is perfect because there are only like 3 days of homework. It's less intimidating to those you invite to be in the study. And if you don't get to the homework, you can STILL get a lot out of the videos and the discussion. The home work is more like a supplement and doesn't guide the discussion. So it's nice that people can come guilt free. I wouldn't want that to be a deterrent. I highly recommend.

I sought out this book after reading the teenager edition with my middle school students I teach. They loved the content, and I found it valuable enough to study it in my young adult bible study with best friends. Baker makes amazing comparisons and structures lessons to readers reflect on the message while asking the reader for introspection as well. It's easy to read and connect with. I have been able to analyze past friendship and see where my heart was, why the situations panned out like they did and more appreciate the friendships I do have. LOVE LOVE LOVE this book and definitely recommend!

Doing this as a bible study with some friends and so far liking it a lot. There are a few things I don’t necessarily agree with, but that’s with any study. What I’m gaining in my friendships with this group is worth it. This book is helping to be the catalyst of those awkward conversations that build true lasting friendships and relationships. I was on the launch team for Lisa Jo's book, "Never Unfriended" so I wasn't sure I really needed to do this Bible study. I thought it might be too similar to her book. I am so glad I decided to participate in this study. It takes a deeper look at friendship - the good, the bad and the ugly! It touched on places that I personally struggle with. It helped me heal from past hurts and have hope for my future friendships. Definitely recommend this study!!!

I've participated in many, many study groups over the past 30 years....and several on friendships based on what the Bible has to say...This one is fresh, kind of fun with the 'View' style round table conversations among friends onscreen...Content of study guide not especially deep or profound...but food for thought, nonetheless. If you want a fairly light, breezy, (a little cheesy) study to work through with a group of casual friends, this might be the study for you.

This book is wonderful! Lisa-Jo speaks about friendship in a way I hadn’t thought of before, and I have been greatly encouraged by her words. My life has literally changed because of this book.

This is a great book! You really busy open your Bible to complete each day! Plan for about 30-45 minutes for each of the 3 lessons per week. I can still hurry up and get them done in one day if it has been a busy week. This is a great study to do with a group, a friend, or by yourself!

This has been a good bible study to participate in with my teens. Adult and teen version are compatible in structure and wording.
