An unbelievable compilation which won't be complete, I understand, until 2025. Just an incredible resource.

To begin to understand the Konzentrationslager system, one must study many, many facets. No single work will ever truly cover the entire subject, it simply is not possible. Primary sources will always be paramount but this modern work is a must for serious scholars of the camp / ghetto sphere. Not only does it document and record every site within the system, it also shows the great variety of camp within the SS realm through essays, diagrams and a number of plans and sketches. When addressing the subject, too many simply refer to Auschwitz, or perhaps a few of the other well known sites. This work goes well beyond that, inviting further study and research of the noted sites within its vast scope. Many almost unheard of locales are covered - perhaps for the first time in the English language. Factual, well researched and easy to use as a serious scholarly reference, the USHMM has produced an excellent work for people to study for generations to come.

This is an excellent introduction to the technology of fiber optics for the non-technical person. No previous knowledge is assumed, and equations are kept to a minimum. If you're completely new to the lightwave transport field, this is the first book you should read!

I'll be entering the master's program in electrical engineering at Stanford in the fall in fiber optic communications and I'm so glad that I read this book before hand. This book has to be one of the easiest technical (although nontheoretical/nonmathematical) reads. It helped me understand fundamental concepts without getting bogged down in mathematical derivations. Hecht presents the material in a very easy to understand manner. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning about fiber optics. Now, after having read this book I'm confident to tackle more advanced texts in fiber optic communications.

Understanding fiber optics is a wonderful instrument for those of us who need to know the basics. I enjoyed the non-technical yet fundamental aspects that were covered. If you are interested in Fiber Optics, I highly recommend this book.

This book provides an excellent, up-to-date review of fiber optics, including light sources and a review of the physics of light and fibers. It is a must-read for those who need to understand optics and fibers, a constantly changing environment that Jeff provides a rather complete snapshot of. I heartily recommend it to readers with a range of skill levels.

It's a textbook for class, but it's actually pretty readable! It's interesting to read, and the chapters are actually pretty short.

This book is an indepth study of fiber optics theory. I use it as the reference guide during the teaching of my Fiber Optics Communications class.

As someone who works in the financial field that had to get up to speed on fiber optics, I purchased this book, "Introduction to Fiber Optics" by Crisp, and "Fiber Optic Reference Guide" by Goff. This was definitely the most technically oriented of the three, but it did have good detail for the areas where the other two books weren't thorough enough. This text is definitely more for targeted research as a reference book, and not what you should get if you want to sit down and read up on the subject.There were a lot of areas where the added depth provided by this book were helpful, but it certainly has the feel of a book more oriented towards academia and professional engineers.

C.H.L.'s attempt to justify Hecht's misinformation is a bit weak1. The G.711 recommendation is probably 30+ years old and the US telephone companies have adhered to it since ratification. In fact, G.711 simply confirmed what the US and European companies were already doing so the US telephone companies were using 64Kbps for voice even before G.711.2. Packet switching has nothing (or very little) to do with voice. Voice is carried via circuit switched channels.3. When voice is carried via a digital channel in the US (at 64Kbps, I might add), one form of signaling "steals" the low order bit of an 8 bit voice sample of each sixth sample of the 24 channels on a DS-1 (AKA T-1) circuit. Because of this, a data channel carried over one of these 64Kbps channels is only able to provide 56Kbps. Maybe this is where Hecht went wrong.But don't buy or not buy Hecht's book based on this one error (in the big scheme of things it's fairly small). The real problem with the book is that it just doesn't do a jood job of explaining optical communications. A better defense of Hecht's book might be that Hecht was attempting to write about all of the uses of optical fiber and not just communications.

I also have Doreen's archangel oracle cards and bought these for added variety. These cards are physically made well and have soft ethereal, beautiful, inspirational pictures and verses. I use a few times a week as a pick me up.

I have never used Oracle cards before and never really believed in them or at least did not think they would work with me. However, I have been on a spiritual journey and have run into several people that recommend them. Some had me give it a try and it seemed to work. I was also advised to speak to my angels which I was not in habit of doing. As soon as I got these cards, I got so many insightful, dead-on messages that were enormously helpful. I have had them a month and a half now and use them regularly. They are absolutely helping me to grow and let go of old negative thought patterns.

So I kept coming across these cards and felt an attraction to them for some time. I knew very little about guidance cards, but wanted to give them a try. I followed the directions and started shuffling. I would ask a question and get an appropriate card in response. I even asked the same question 3 times in a row and pulled the same card 3 times in a row. Another time I was trying to focus and use my cards, but my children were pestering me to go outside the entire time. The last card I pulled was a nature card, telling me to get fresh air. lol I took that as an answer to the kids pleading for outside playtime. You need to be open and have faith in this process. If you can do that, you do get amazing results. I was impressed and excited with them overall.

I bought these for my 19 year old daughter. She'd met a sales associate in a metaphysical shop who recommended Doreen's angel cards. She absolutely loves them. They got her through her internship in Europe. If she was feeling down or homesick she'd pull a card for guidance.

I loved them until I went to the author website and she has rebuked everything about new age for traditional religion.

bought these for a friend's birthday present. they're so perfect for my friend. i can't wait to see his reaction. i practiced alittle with the cards and they are wonderful. i really resonated with the words and pictures.

The cards are beautiful! The cards measure about 5 inches tall by 3 1/2 inches wide. They are made out a thick card-stock. They have shiny gold on the outside of the cards. The artwork I thought was beautiful and well done. I love the pictures. There is a 98 page guidebook as well that details the meanings of the cards and more pages beyond that for notes and details about who did the artwork. It makes it super easy to know what each card says. This is my favorite Doreen Virtue deck.UPDATE: Just wanted to ask if anyone else has had these readings from this deck: Before I asked the question the answer came. For instance, A card fell over as I was shuffling and the answer was, "Don't worry about it" and I was about to ask, was someone in my family, who hadn't reported back, and I was concerned if he was Ok. Turns out the next day, he was Ok. So the Angels answered before I even asked. Then before I had asked about myself, I was shuffling and going to ask another question but was debating which to ask when the card I just pulled as I was just shuffling to just see what it looked like, answered that question but again before I asked it. I thought that was awesome but just wondered if anyone else using this deck has experienced that too? Love this deck!

I used this book after using some of MGMAT's books. The GMAT Math Prep Course text is excellent, with many, many examples and reasonably good explanations. HOWEVER, you have to have a SOLID FOUNDATION to be able to use this book because it focuses (mostly) on 600-800 level problems without explaining all the finer math principle details (author assumes that you know them, and you will, if you use the MGMAT guide Manhattan GMAT Set of 8 Strategy Guides, Fourth Edition (Manhattan GMAT Strategy Guides)).WARNING: the Kindle version contains many errors! The errors are OK and you figure them out after reading the problem explanations, but these errors CAN and WILL get frustrating at times. The number of errors greatly decreases towards the middle of the book. I contacted Amazon support about this issue and the support personnel told me that the errors are a publisher issue and that the issue will be escalated. Haven't really heard anything since.With the above said, I would still highly recommend the book and even the Kindle version (that's what I used). The Kindle version is an absolute joy to use when studying from iPad.

The best way to improve problem solving skills is to do problems, and this book has a ton of good ones. I recommend this book to anybody who is comfortable with the GMAT math syllabus but wants a ton of good practice.

I'm only in the first chapter and in the first ten questions alone there have been two errors that render the question invalid. The answer explanations have the typos fixed so you can see what the questions were supposed to ask, but it is still super frustrating.

This book is great if your math is rusty and you need a more in depth refresher. It only covers more basic GMAT math so don't expect to master the most difficult math problems after using this book.The book's main shortcoming was the lack of tricks and shortcuts. There simply isn't time to fully solve every problem fully on the GMAT and sometimes I knew of easier methods to find the answer quickly with skills I learned with the Kaplan book.

Who edits this stuff? Obviously no one because the misprints in this book are horrible. It's difficult enough to go through the different equations and understand the explanations while having to pick out all the misprints in each equation. For example, on page 248, there are at least 13 instances where either an equation symbol (=) or a "greater than or equal to" symbol is used instead of where a subtraction symbol (-) should be used. This is pathetic, Nova. I have the copyright edition 2010. I'm surprised there aren't more complaints about this in the review section.As for the general content of the study guide, it is marginal. I would give it 3 stars, but explanations for how to solve certain problems are not very detailed and could be stronger. Buy at your own risk... I bought mine used at least.

First off, this is a great little book that I'd absolutely recommend to anybody that is looking to brush up on the quant part of the test. It goes into all the topics in great detail, includes simple and easily remembered tips for eliminating answer choices on the harder questions, and gives you small equations which (while unnecessary) can really help you come test day. The reason I give the Kindle version four stars instead of five is it has a few problems. The big thing is typos. I don't know how these came about, probably from the use of scanning in lieu of actually taking the time to enter in the data and tables, but the book has a lot of typos in the question sections, some of which make the question ask something completely different than what it's actually asking. I've seen 1=l, A=4, 6=b, (=C, and others. Usually you can tell what they meant, but in a few circumstances, particularly 6=b, it can really throw you off.The only other things I could complain about:1: Some of the difficulty levels seem to be off, with some medium questions being hard and hard questions being painfully easy. I remember one 'very hard' question (Counting section, around 60% of the way through) where if understood weighted averages the only possible way I saw to screw it up would be to accidentally subtract .05 from .55 instead of .5 from .55.2: The books favors long solution explanations. In a lot of ways, this is an extremely good thing because it's almost impossible to get lost in their explanation. Unfortunately, on the actual test you have time limits so you can't afford to do the extremely drawn out solutions the book favors. I wish they would have occasionally taken the time to show how you would do the problem quickly. A good example of this is 6 & 7 in Sequences.6) If you can't figure out the relationship and just realize that the middle value between 1 and 3 is 2 and guess the answer that way, there's a drawn out explanation that's very useful.7) A normal person would say "a=2ar, so r must equal .5. .5^2 is thus .25." Add 'em up and divide (if you see the problem you'll know). It takes under 30 seconds to do this problem. Instead, they do this gigantic, vastly overcomplicated solution when a normal person would just say "1.5a/.75a = 1.5/.75 = 2/1."Again, it's a great book and I completely recommend it. It's the best book I've seen for GMAT math thus far, and I've read quite a bit prepping for that test. I just wish the publisher would fix the typos, fix the difficulty levels, and give guidelines for doing the extremely common problems ("Machine A takes 5 hours to do something, Machine B takes 3 hours to do the same thing, how long would they take together?" sort of stuff) quickly.Bottom line: Buy it, it's good.

Great book. The first time I attempted the Gmat i studied on the cracking the gmat and placed in 45th percentile in math. I bought this book and the advance math prep book and after a month from my 580 i got 700 with 80% in quantitative. The problems are slighly different from the ones on the test but the difficulty is similar. It covers more aspects than the cracking the gmat book.

Once we got The Guide, I looked up Pennsylvania. (And you know you'll do the same thing!)If you already have an older version, the replacement is worth your time. Plenty of new color photos for you picture hounds to go with the updates. Wherever you're bound for, be it in your home territory or across a border, you'll find "The World Wide Guide To Naked Places" to be invaluable.

Anyone interested in gay nude travel should be advised that there are two books out there with the words "naked places" in the title. The book described on this page is called "Naked Magazine's Worldwide Guide to Naked Places" and is published by the Nazca Plains Corporation in Las Vegas, NV with no author credited in the actual book (even though it credits Robert Steele on this webpage). The other guide is called "Naked Places, A Guide for Gay Men to Nude Recreation and Travel" by Michael Boyd, put out by Mercury Publishing in Austin, TX.Having already owned Mr. Boyd's excellent book, I decided to buy the Naked Magazine book since it was published more recently and I'm about to take a trip to Europe. I was hugely disappointed. After having received the book, I believe the previous 5-star reviews must be bogus. In fact, one of the reviewers seems to specialize in writing 5-star reviews of Nazca Plains titles. Check it out for yourself.The Naked Magazine/Nazca book is a truly shoddy effort. First, it is horribly organized so that the reader has no sense of geographic orientation. For example, the author doesn't even have the courtesy to divide Canada into provinces or even cities! Beaches and places to stay for the entire country are listed separately and alphabetically, with the result that the reader has to constantly flip pages to figure out what is near what. Same goes for other countries.Secondly, there are several popular nude beaches in the U.S. that are omitted altogether, like the one on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe, which is one of my favorite nude beaches and one of the prettiest beaches anywhere I have been. There is no mention of it in this book, and it is a popular and well-known place.Third, places outside the U.S. seem a mere afterthought even though this book is touted as a worldwide guide. Descriptions and directions are virtually nil. Two examples: for Danube Island in Vienna, Austria, the directions read "Best if reached by bus, ferry or subway since parking in this area is a problem." That's it, that's all they tell you about how to find the nude beach on a river island that is 12 miles long. And here are the directions for a beach in Spain: "The beach is near Hotel Santa Cristina. There is a McDonald's near the beach. Ask for directions locally." Ask locally?! Isn't the purpose of a nude beach guide to tell you how to get there?! These examples are typical of the entries in the book and are virtually useless. (In comparison, Mr. Boyd's guide gives detailed directions with the nearest street intersection, how to make use of European mapping sites like viamichelin.com, what public transit to take when applicable and even the GPS coordinates so you can look it up on Google Earth! Night and day difference in quality!)My advice, in short, is do not waste your money on this book. It is clearly the slapdash effort of people out to make an easy buck who know nothing about the subject matter. Get Mr. Boyd's book instead, Naked Places, A Guide for Gay Men to Nude Recreation and Travel, 5th edition. In contrast to Naked Magazine's book, Michael Boyd's book is bigger (about 120 more pages and many more entries), infinitely more detailed and clearly written by someone who knows/cares about the world of gay nude recreation. In terms of quality, it is like comparing a TV guide to an encyclopedia!

At first I thought paying $21.95 for a guide would be completely ridiculous, but after receiving it -- WOW, is all I can say! It looks to be the most comprehensive and up-to-date gay travel guide on the planet! This guide is especially written for those of us who like to get naked and let it all hang out... this sixth edition really shines with not only US listings, but detailed international naked listings for the connoisseur of worldwide nude travel. Upon receiving this book, I immediately flipped to New York, and was amazed to find clubs and B&B's I've never even heard of! I've got so much to do now!!! The format of the guide is extremely easy to carry, easily compacted, EXTREMELY colorful, great pictures of some GEORGEOUS men, and really easy to navigate. I've read the previous editions, but this 6th edition is hands down the best gay naked travel guide in the country. It's got the combo of things that make it worth every penny: Pictures, information, full-color, and just plain fun to read. RUN; don't walk to buy this thing. If you're looking for some steamy fun on the weekends, wherever you may be, pick this guide up and browse on through.
